Our first piece of gym equipment is the foam roller. This roller is probably most often used on the IT band and can be painful! Ouch!
The IT band is: Iliotibial band is a layer of connective tissue extending from the iliac crest to the knee and links the gluteus maximus to the tibia.

This gets really tight and can cause unbelievable knee pain especially on the outside of the knee. Because this is not an easy area to stretch, the foam roller is a great device to help out. When looking into the foam roller, I actually realized that this inexpensive piece of equipment is a great way to stretch/massage other tight areas as well.
