During Holy Week, today is usually referred to as either “Spy” Wednesday or “Silent” Wednesday. According to our pastor, scholars do not really know what happened this day. Two key events may have occurred on Wednesday, both foreshadowing Jesus’s death. The woman anoints Jesus’s feet in Bethany with expensive perfume as you would do before a burial. And Judas receives payment for betraying Jesus:
Then one of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
and said, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver,
and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.
But what does Jesus do all day? Maybe He recovers from the intensity of the past three days and prepares Himself for what is to come. Maybe He spent the day with those closest to Him. Maybe He healed someone hurting. Maybe He spent the entire day praying.
Let’s take the day to rest, reflect, and pray.
